Founder

Dorian Flood is a native of Norfolk, Virginia born July 27, 1963.  From birth Dorian was born to cook often cooking for her young sister, and older brother while she was but a child herself.  Dorian was inspired at a young age to cook by her grandparents who owned a few restaurants on Church Street in downtown Norfolk like the Guess snacking grill.  Soon after graduating from Lake Taylor high school in Norfolk Virginia Dorian decided to work for the Boddie-Noell company (trading as Hardees).

In 1983 Dorian accepted her first position with Hardees as a biscuit maker.  Dorian being the perfectionist at cooking was entered into Hardees biscuit making contest and won first place. Management noticed her dedication and hard work ethic soon after Dorian was promoted to service manager, and then store manager by 1986.  Dorian’s hard work commitment, and attention to detail were the catalyst for her next promotion to centralized training manager.  As a centralized training manager Dorian was in charge of 67 Hardees restaurants in the state of Virginia.  Dorian’s hard work once again paid off as she became the first Afro-American in Hardees history to earn the right to make the prestigious president’s club for their corporation.

In 1998 Dorian decided to leave Hardees’s, and open her very first Restaurant Aunt Dorian’s Country Kitchen in Norfolk Virginia.  Dorian has won best taste of Norfolk at the Homearama in Norfolk.  Some of her award winning items includes her honey barbecue wings, corn bread, and Macaroni and cheese.

Dorian has also cooked for the stars as well.  Catering for such people as Tim Reed, Ce Ce Winnans, DMX, James Brown, Bruce Brown, Bo Diddley, Stephanie Mills, and Monique of the Parkers to name a few.

Some of Dorian’s hobbies consist of playing with her granddaughter, reading, spending quality time with her family, and enjoying a nice evening with her husband.

What are the Food Critics Saying?

“Those HONEY BBQ Wings"

I was at the mall with my two sons who are 8 and under and usually eat McDonald's. of course, I was tired of eating McDonald's. I walked around the food court and there was a li'l asian woman with a plate of samples and toothpicks. I tried and loved whatever chicken it was. I assumed it was chinese food. I assumed WRONG. the chicken came from Aunt Dorian's, a southern soulfood joint. the chicken actually came from wings. they were like regular fried chicken wings with the flour covering, but with the perfect blend of what tasted like hot sauce, honey, and something else... or maybe hot sauce and honey was it? whatever the sauce was... I was HOOKED. I bought like 10 to start with. I ate 2, and brought the rest home to my honey. the boys also had a sample wing each. we've been faithful sweet n spicy wing customers ever since."
