You just got engaged and now the fun begins.  Once you come out of the clouds, you have to start planning for your special day.  Most engagements and weddings take 12 months to plan out. Let's get started.  Here is the a list of the ten to dos for 12 months before the big day:

  1. Announce your engagement to family and friends and plan an engagement party.
  2. Place an engagement announcement in your local newspaper
  3. Sign up for a wedding website or hire someone to customize you one.  This will keep your guests informed about event details, area information, etc.
  4. Choose that special day-your wedding date.
  5. Work on the budget.
  6. Consider purchasing wedding planning software to organizae everything or hire a wedding consultant to help secure contracts, etc.
  7. Choose a location and reserve your ceremony and reception site(s)
  8. Pick a Professional Photographer that can take your engagement photographs.
  9. Begin shopping for your wedding gown.
  10. Purchase a wedding planning book/journal or use an electronic calendar to keep track of important dates and appointments.
